Recently YouTube has updated its app, and because of that, there is no direct option to delete Youtube history, including the YouTube search history and YouTube watch history.

In this article this is actually written in July 2023. It would be really helpful in clearing YouTube history, including search and watch history.

As you can see in the below image, there are two screenshots of the YouTube app from 6 months back and the current YouTube app settings. When you screenshot, it shows you the clear differentiation between how much YouTube has changed.

As per that, we are going to tell you how to delete YouTube watch history and how to delete YouTube search history together in a single blog post.

And surprisingly, we will also show you a video of doing that, including the screenshots, so let’s get started.

How To Delete Youtube Search History on Android or iOS [steps]

  1. Open the YouTube app.
  2. Tap on your profile icon to access the settings.
  3. Look for and tap on “Manage all history.”
  4. Find the delete button and tap on it.
  5. Choose from options like “Delete today,” “Delete custom range,” or “Delete all time” to select the desired time frame for deletion.
  6. Confirm your selection and you’re done!
  7. Congratulations! You have successfully deleted your YouTube history on your phone.

Step 1: Tap on Youtube Profile.

Open Youtube App and click on the Profile icon at the top right corner of the screen.

Step 2: Tap Youtube settings.

Step 3: Select History and Privacy.

As you Tap On Settings, you must Tap the seventh option: History and Privacy.

After opening History and Privacy, Tap on the first option: Clear Search History.

Step 5: Retap on Clear Search history.

A pop-up will ask you to clean all your Youtube Search History. You have to tap on Clear Search History.

To delete your YouTube search history on Android or iOS devices, you can follow these steps:

  1. Open the YouTube app on your Android or iOS device.
  2. Tap on your profile icon, usually in the screen’s top right corner.
  3. Tap “Settings” or “Settings & Privacy” from the dropdown menu.
  4. In the Settings menu, look for and tap on “History & Privacy” or “History and Privacy.”
  5. Tap on “Clear search history” or “Clear Search History” (the exact wording may vary).
  6. You’ll see a confirmation pop-up asking if you want to clear your search history. Tap on “Clear” or “Clear Search History” again to confirm.

Following the above simple steps, all your Youtube Search History will be cleared instantly.

Alternative Method to Clear Youtube Search History on Phone

If you prefer to delete your YouTube search history through your Google account settings, here’s how you can do it:

Note: Deleting your YouTube search history through your Google account settings will also delete your search history across other Google services.

  1. Open a web browser on your phone and go to myaccount.google.com.
  2. Sign in with the Google account that is associated with your YouTube activity.
  3. Once signed in, navigate to the “Data & personalization” section. You may need to click on the menu icon (three horizontal lines) at the top-left corner of the screen and select “Data & personalization” from the list.
  4. Scroll down until you find the “Activity controls” section. Under this section, locate and click on “YouTube History.”
  5. On the YouTube History page, you’ll see your search history. Click on the “Manage activity” link.
  6. You’ll be taken to the My Activity page specifically for YouTube. Here, you can view and manage your search history.
  7. To delete individual search entries, click on the three vertical dots (more options) next to each search term and select “Delete” from the menu.
  8. If you want to delete your entire YouTube search history, click on the “Delete activity by” link on the left sidebar.
  9. Choose the time range for which you want to delete the search history, or select “All time” to delete everything.
  10. Click on “Delete” to confirm the deletion of your YouTube search history.

Following these steps will allow you to manage and delete your YouTube search history through your Google account settings on your phone.

Scroll down in the Data and Privacy Section and Tap on Youtube History.

Step 6: Select Manage History.

Scroll down and Tap on Manage History

Step 7: At last, Click delete and Choose time range.

Tap on Delete. A small section will be opened asking for the time frame, and here you will get three options: Delete Today. Delete Custom Range and Delete All Time.

This method is suitable if you want to delete all your activity, including searching and Watching history on Youtube.

Third Way to delete individual searches from your search history(Easiest) 

  1. Open the YouTube app on your phone.
  2. Tap on the search icon, usually represented by a magnifying glass icon, located at the top of the screen.
  3. In the search bar, you’ll see your recent search history with a clock icon next to each entry.
  4. Tap and hold on the search term that you want to delete.
  5. A pop-up menu will appear with options related to that search term. Tap on “Remove from search history” or a similar option.
  6. Confirm your action by tapping “OK” or “Remove” in the confirmation pop-up.

Step 1: Open Youtube and tap the search icon.

As you tap the Magnifying Glass icon, all your searches will be shown below the text area. They are also called suggested search results

Step 2: Tap and Hold to clear the indiviusal search history.

A pop-up will come asking you to delete it. Tap Delete.

This way, you can delete specific searches instead of deleting them together.

Q: What is the benefit of deleting search history on Youtube?

Ans: Well, it doesn’t have any technical or logical benefit. So it depends upon you. If you want more privacy, you can delete your searches. It comes under privacy and personal preferences.

Q: Can I recover my search history in any way?

Ans: No, you can’t recover your search history in any way. Doesn’t matter which method you choose; no one can recover your search history once deleted.

Q: If I delete my Youtube History by Going to my Google Account, does it also delete my watch history?
