If you currently have Nova Launcher as your smartphone’s default launcher, you may encounter difficulties uninstalling it. The reason is quite simple: when Nova Launcher is being actively used as the default launcher, it cannot be uninstalled.

Before you uninstall Nova Launcher, it’s essential to ensure it’s not set as your default launcher. This can vary depending on your device and Android version, but you can check this by going to Settings > Apps > Default Apps > Home Screen. If Nova Launcher is set as the default launcher, you’ll need to change it to another before you can uninstall Nova Launcher.

Troubleshooting Common Issues With Uninstalling

Below I am sharing all the common issues with the nova launcher while uninstalling it, or if they are unable to install Nova Launcher, then this is what they are dealing with:

Nova Launcher won’t uninstall, or the uninstall button is greyed out

This can happen if Nova Launcher is a system app that cannot be uninstalled. To remove Nova Launcher, try disabling it instead. Go to “Apps” in the device settings, find Nova Launcher, and select “Disable.”
